They are found in largest quantities in meat, dairy products and many margarines. Most plant products are low in saturated fats; the exceptions are palm oil and coconut oil which solidify at room temperature and are high in saturated fat. Doctors nowadays advise that everyone, even the healthiest among us, should cut down our intake of saturated fats as they can raise your blood cholesterol level and so increase the risk of coronary heart disease.
